Directions: Walk to the Flagpole on the Village Green in Rowlands Castle

  • Centre of the village and home to annual Village Fair as well as other community celebrations.
  • Livestock and hiring fairs used to be held in May and November.
  • Distinctive funnel shape allowed livestock to be driven from common pastures.
  • In  the run up to D-Day in June 1944, tanks and military vehicles were parked here.
  • The flag is raised regularly to commemorate local and national events.
