Walks from the Village
U3A Walks
We have a thriving u3a Walking group which offers 2 walks per month: a shorter walk of between 3 and 4 miles on the 1st Monday of the month and a longer walk of between 5 and 7 miles on the 3rd Friday. There are usually between 8 and 12 walkers at a time.
The walks, if not around the village, are all relatively local. Nearly all of them provide spectacular views over the verdant countryside and rolling Downs or the ever-changing seascape of our glorious coastline.
The Stoughton/Walderton area provides a large number of walks particularly around Stoughton Downs, Kingley Vale and Wildham Woods. In Hambledon there are stunning walks which often end up skirting its prize-winning vineyard. A regular favourite is around East Meon where the views can be breath taking especially when the fields are colourful.
Emsworth provides a variety of trails both down by the shore and inland by the mill ending up back by the marina. How delightful is the walk from Chidham to Prinsted where we can enjoy our midway refreshments watching the amazing variety of seabirds and changing states of the tide. Coastal walks have the added benefit of being relatively flat for those who find hills/inclines challenging.
And at the end of our exercise, having chatted away with our companions, who can resist a pub lunch? It’s a well-deserved treat!
